Jeffery Self & Cole Escola working on Bunny & Clyde show for HBO Max

December 8, 2021 · By

Search Party alums Jeffery Self and Cole Escola are working on a new half-hour comedy for HBO Max called Bunny & Clyde (which is so annoyingly similar to Bonnie and Clyde that a certain search engine refuses to bring up the correct results).

Self and Escola will star and executive produce along with Nancy Pimental as showrunner, working with Avalon who will do most of the show production.

Self will play Clyde, a broken thirty-something gay having a bipolar episode, and Escola will play non-binary cabaret star Bunny. The pair get a chance to reinvent themselves (a once in a lifetime opportunity and second chance at happiness) when they assume new identities to sell a dead man’s estate. But first they need to con the entire Palm Springs community that the dead man is actually alive and well.

The pair previously started out making YouTube videos under the banner “Very Good Looking Gay Boys”, before working together on the cult-classic Logo sketch comedy, Jeffery & Cole Casserole. Self has been a main cast member on Search Party from the start, while Escola has had a recurring role over seasons 3 & 4. Jeffery Self is gay and married to English film actor Augustus Prew. Comedian Cole Escola has worked in both theatre and television, including a 24 episode recurring role on At Home with Amy Sedaris.

No details so far on when Bunny & Clyde will be shot or premiere, or how the streamer will drop the unknown number of episodes.
