Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, creators of the hit series The Other Two have signed up with HBO to make a dark teen comedy series with a closet gay teen in the lead role. According to Variety, in order for the teen to cope, he pretends he is a famous straight actor merely playing gay, except when he meets someone, his character’s path is upended.

The Other Two follows adult brother and sister Cary and Brooke Dubek (Drew Tarver & Heléne Yorke) trying to make it big in NYC only to have their teenage brother Chase become a Bieber-like star (Case Walker). When Chase takes a break from his singing career to attend NYU (still a young teen), their mom (Molly Shannon) becomes a date time tv show host making it big.

The news comes just after we learned the HBO Max series written and produced by Kelly and Schneider has been renewed for a third season. Kelly and Schneider are Saturday Night Live alum, and will not only pen but also produce the new series. The half-hour comedy is in early development with no announcement yet on casting, filming, further plot or storyline hints, or of course the premiere date.
